 The Elmwood Cemetery Society is non-profit and receives no funding from city, county, state, or Federal agencies.   Elmwood Cemetery is a 501(c) 13 entity and all donations are tax deductible.  The Elmwood Cemetery Preservation Fund, administered by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation is a charitable organization as defined by 501 (c) 13 of the Internal Revenue Code and is, therefore, also tax deductible.  A contribution to Elmwood Cemetery can be used to save on your taxes.  There are ways to retain control of assets while living, receive lifetime benefits, and save on your taxes.  Some of those ways include: (a) Cash gifts (up to 50% of adjusted gross income). (b) Making a bequest through a Will. (c) Charitable Remainder Trusts. (d) Retirement accounts and pension plans. (e) Certificates of Deposit. (f) Savings accounts. (g) Brokerage accounts. (h) Checking accounts with P.O.D. provisions. (i) Gift annuities. (j) Gift of life insurance. (k) Gift of real estate. (l) Appreciated stock (you avoid all capital gains taxes and you can deduct your gift up to 30% or 50% of your adjusted gross income, depending upon the length of time held).
