Rules and Regulations


Visitors are reminded that Elmwood Cemetery is private property. Visitors are also reminded that these grounds are sacredly devoted to the interment of the dead, and that the strict observance of the decorum which should be observed in such a place will be required of all. The officers of the Elmwood Cemetery Society earnestly request everyone, whether a lot owner or a visitor, aid them in respecting these hallowed grounds.

Notice Concerning Installation of Permanent Monuments and Markers: The installation of any permanent monuments or grave markers without the express written consent of the Elmwood Cemetery Society Board of Trustees is prohibited. Requests for such permission should be in writing and contain: (1) A clear statement of the requesting party’s relationship to the decedent on whose grave the monument/marker is to be installed, and (2) A detailed description of the proposed monument or marker. The Board reserves the right to remove any monuments/markers which are installed in violation of this policy. The Board will oversee the installation of any, and all, monuments/markers.

Solicitation: Solicitation on the grounds of Elmwood Cemetery is expressly prohibited.

Commercial Ventures: The use of Elmwood Cemetery grounds for any commercial enterprise without written consent of the Elmwood Cemetery Society Board of Trustees is prohibited.
