Who's Who

Many of the 36,000 people buried in Elmwood Cemetery played a significant role in the growth and development of Kansas City.  Theirs are the stories of the famous, the infamous, and the once forgotten… each of whom added in their own way to ‘The Story of Kansas City.’

This “Who’s Who” section of the Elmwood website offers a quick glimpse into the lives of some of these people.  Their stories are often inspiring. At other times they can be heartwarming or tragic.  In many ways, however, they represent what wein the heart of America call “The Kansas City Spirit.”

Search by letter for individual names, using the navigation below, or read through the entire section for an overview of some of the most famous people buried at Elmwood Cemetery.

If you would like more detailed information about any of those highlighted here, please visit the Elmwood Family History Project and click on ‘notes’ under the name of the person of interest to you.
